Customer Requirement:
Air India's Auto Hangar department required moisture control for the aircraft servicing area — a very large air volume with wide-open hangar doors and Mumbai's coastal humidity moving through it freely. These conditions promote corrosion on airframes and components, condensation on cold metal surfaces, and problems with paint, sealant and composite curing during maintenance work. Any equipment installed also had to stay clear of ground equipment movement around the servicing bay.

What we did:
• Assessed the hangar's open-door air exchange and coastal moisture ingress rather than treating it as a sealed volume • Selected the WDE-168S (168 L/day) class for high extraction rate relative to physical footprint • Supplied 8 units and positioned them around the servicing bay to keep ground equipment routes fully clear • Targeted coverage at surfaces and work zones most exposed to condensation and corrosion risk • Commissioned the installation to support both routine line maintenance and longer servicing checks
Project Description
Jet India supplied 8 units of the WDE-168S (168 L/day) industrial dehumidifier to Air India's Auto Hangar department in Mumbai, serving the aircraft servicing area. Hangar environments combine very large air volumes with wide-open doors and Mumbai's coastal humidity, creating conditions that promote corrosion on airframes and components, condensation on cold metal surfaces, and problems with paint, sealant and composite curing during maintenance work. The 168 L/day class was selected for its high extraction rate relative to footprint, allowing units to be positioned around the servicing bay without obstructing ground equipment movement. The installation supports both routine line maintenance and longer servicing checks carried out in the hangar.
